About Me

I am an oil painter, who also utilizes multimedia, charcoal,
and graphite in my artistic endeavours. My preferred style is figurative, realistic, and anecdotal. Originally from South Africa, I currently reside in Wiltshire, UK. Presently, I am a MA student at Falmouth University.

My subjects include animals, humans, and nature. I seek to
explore the fragility of nature by depicting the relationship between animals and the hubris of humanity through anecdotal paintings. Additionally, I use
symbolic still life paintings to examine the vulnerability and mortality of endangered wildlife and plant species. I strive to encourage a symbiotic relationship and harmonious relationship between humans and all other creatures
on our beautiful earth by creating fun, colourful figurative and surrealistic type paintings.

My inspiration is drawn from a variety of sources. I find
inspiration in the beauty of sunsets, the sounds of honking geese flying overhead, the lonesome sound of a Fish Eagle, the sight of birds circling and gliding on the air currents and encounters with wild creatures in their natural
environments. The horses that I work with also supply me with endless inspiration. I hike for miles with my dog, sometimes alone and sometimes in the company of my husband or a friend. I enjoy camping and sitting around a log
fire listening to the evening sounds of frogs, cicadas and other night life. I love road trips and often stop my car on the side of the road to take in a landscape that leaves me breathless. Nostalgic scents such as freshly baked
bread, mowed lawn , rain on dry earth, farm and animal smells, new books and oil paints also inspire me.
